Applications are invited to manage the Cell Culture Facility in the Medical Research Council Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC PPU). You will be responsible for overseeing a busy Cell Culture Facility undertaking Biosafety Containment Level 1 and 2 work and will supervise two members of technical staff.

Duties will include growing and routine testing of cells, managing storage of cell stocks, ordering of consumables, monitoring and arranging servicing of the equipment, helping to maintain cleanliness and generally ensuring the smooth running of the facility.

A Major aim of the MRC PPU is to advance understanding of the role of protein phosphorylation and ubiquitylation in cell regulation and human disease. The Cell Culture Facility is an integral part of the Unit and the successful candidate will work in this exciting environment to provide essential support to the researchers. The MRC PPU is in a beautiful location overlooking the estuary of the River Tay and embedded within the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee, which is one of the premier Life Sciences research centres in the world.

Candidates Requirements:

  • Qualified to at least degree level or equivalent and have proven relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of tissue culture procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of databases to maintain accurate records of cell lines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills.

The post is available immediately for a period of one year in the first instance.
