Additional Project Info

We have two funded PhD studentships currently available as part of an Edinburgh UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI) – Dundee MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (PPU) collaboration that brings together scientists with expertise in cellular reprogramming, mouse neurobiology, signal transduction and proteomics to enhance our understanding of the mechanisms of Parkinson’s and exploit this knowledge to develop and evaluate novel therapies in the clinic. The successful candidates will have a primary base in either Dundee or Edinburgh, but will benefit from the highly collaborative nature of the projects which will involve significant interaction with the co-supervisors at the partner University. Candidates should have a good 1st degree in biochemistry, neuroscience, biomedical sciences or molecular biology. The successful candidates will also become part of the UK DRI, a nationwide £300M initiative aimed at delivering transformative knowledge and therapies for neurodegenerative disease, as well as part of the MRC-PPU, a world leading institute for the understanding of protein signaling, biochemistry and modification.
