The MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC PPU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Monika Zwirek as its new General Manager, succeeding Paul Davies.
Monika has been a valued member of the MRC PPU since 2017 and has more recently served as Deputy Manager, where she has developed extensive experience in the Unit’s operations. In her new role, she will oversee the Unit’s finances, support Principal Investigators with grant applications and expenditure planning, and provide strategic guidance on administrative and operational matters. She will also line-manage the MRC PPU support staff, including Reagents and Services, working closely with Professor Dario Alessi, Professor John Rouse, and Paul Davies.
Professor Dario Alessi, Director of the MRC PPU, said:
“Monika has played an important role in supporting the Unit over several years, and I am delighted to see her take on this position. I am confident she will continue to strengthen the MRC PPU’s operations and contribute to its ongoing success. The Unit also extends its sincere thanks to Paul Davies for his outstanding contribution over many years. His leadership has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth running and development of the MRC PPU, helping to establish it as a leading centre for signal transduction research."
Monika Zwirek said "I am truly honoured to take on this role and grateful for the trust placed in me. I look forward to building on the Unit’s excellent work. Paul’s dedication and leadership have set a high standard, and I hope to continue his legacy while contributing to the Unit’s growth and its impact in signal transduction research".
