I am a fourth-year Neuroscience student at the University of Dundee with a passion for research. I spent my second undergraduate year on an Erasmus+ exchange in Umeå, Sweden, where I was able to join SAB group research looking into the development of Parkinson’s disease and investigating a potential drug candidate playing a role in counteracting oxidative stress. This period allowed me to identify my interests within science, helping me understanding how academia works and strengthening my will to become a neuroscientist. We were able to find new insights on the interaction between dopaminergic and noradrenergic system in the substantia nigra, which can be found in our publication (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuint.2019.104551). Currently, I am working in Prof. Alessi lab group, where I am involved in a variety of projects, such as mass spectrometry analysis to identify proteins involved in ALS pathogenesis. My plan after my bachelor’s degree is to study a PhD focusing on neurodegeneration and someday start my own research group.
