Bio:

After an extensive lab-based research career, I completed a Master of Genetic Counselling (MGC) in 2018, with the aim of working more closely with patients in the clinical environment. I now live in Christchurch, NZ and work as a Research Genetic Counsellor and Study Co-ordinator in the Neurology Department, Auckland City Hospital. Living and working in different parts of the country has allowed me to expand my research links. My areas of interest include Pacific health and how neurogenetic disorders affect cognition and movement including PINK1 early onset Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease. I hold an Honorary academic position associated with the Maurice Wilkins Centre at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland. My lab-based research experience is in the fields of diabetes and cancer metabolism, with a focus on intracellular communication, proteomics, endocrinology and drug discovery.
