Cambridge/MRC PPU Visiting Clinical Scholar Scheme – Applications open

The University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine and the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC PPU) have launched a new research partnership to enable clinical researchers to visit the MRC PPU for short periods to undertake mechanistic research that may aid their primary research programmes in Cambridge. The scheme will be co-directed by Professor Brian Huntly, Director of CATO (Cambridge) and Dr Miratul Muqit, Wellcome Senior Clinical Fellow at the MRC PPU.

The MRC PPU is a world leading centre in signal transduction research exploring mechanisms of many diseases including neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and inflammatory diseases. The Unit houses state-of-the-art facilities in biochemistry and proteomics and has particular expertise in understanding the role of post-translational modifications including phosphorylation and ubiquitylation mechanisms.

In recent years medics at every level from undergraduate to postdoctoral have undertaken research projects in the Unit. Former clinical alumni include Dr Kashyap Patel, who is currently a Consultant Endocrinologist and Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow at Exeter Medical School.

Two Visiting Clinical Scholarships are available to early career clinical academics in Cambridge (ACF, ACL, PhD, Post-doctoral/Clinician Scientist Fellow) with a closing date of December 15th.
