Well done to Eeva Sommer a PhD Student Dario Alessi's lab who successfully defended her PhD thesis on better understanding of the roles that SGK isoforms play in breast cancer. Her work has revealed that high levels of SGK isoforms and phosphorylation of NDRG1 that is insensitive to Akt inhibitors are strong predictors for resistance of breast cancer cells to Akt inhibitors.
