Congratulations to Jessica Rowe, a PhD student in Kirby Swatek’s lab, for winning one of three UbiQ-sponsored poster prizes at the recent EMBO conference on Ubiquitin and Ubiquitin-like Proteins in Health and Disease in Monopoli, Italy.
Jessica’s poster, titled ‘Dissecting the interactions of the ISG15-USP18-STAT2 inhibitory complex’, provided new insights into how a multi-protein complex assembles to regulate type I interferon signalling, a crucial host defence response pathway that protects against viral infections.
The biennial EMBO ubiquitin conference brings together researchers from across the world to discuss the latest advances in the field, from breakthroughs in basic research to promising new therapeutics.
The other two poster prizes were awarded to Charlotte Crowe (a former postdoc in Alessio Ciulli’s lab in Dundee, now at Genentech) and Juliane Scheer (a PhD student in Brenda Schulman’s Department at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry). Congratulations to Charlotte and Juliane as well!
