Rachel O’Dea has been awarded a highly competitive and prestigious postdoctoral fellowship that will allow her to join the laboratory of Professor Yogesh Kulathu at the MRC PPU. Her application was successfully evaluated by the European Commission during the most recent Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship call. The funding will come from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), under the UK government’s Horizon Europe funding guarantee.
Rachel will study the importance of UFMylation, an understudied post-translational modification, at different sites in the cell and investigate the regulatory mechanisms at play.
Rachel said, “I am delighted to have received this fellowship, and I am excited to see what we will uncover about UFMylation. I chose the Kulathu lab as my host for this fellowship as Prof. Kulathu is a leader in the field of understanding enigmatic Ubiquitin signals and the labs expertise in both cell biology and biochemistry makes it a great place to do science."
Yogesh said “I am delighted that Rachel was awarded this fellowship, which will enable her to take on this challenging research.”
