MRC PPU welcomes National Innovation Centre (Nepal) delegation visit

A delegation from National Innovation Centre (Nepal) led by its Chairperson Dr. Mahabir Pun and European coordinator Hari K. Neupane, visited the MRC PPU on 13th April 2022. During their visit, Professor Gopal Sapkota, who is a principal investigator within the MRC PPU and is originally from Nepal, gave the delegation a tour of the labs and facilities and briefed them about the research that is undertaken within the MRC PPU and the School of Life Sciences.

The delegation also met with the director of MRC PPU, Professor Dario Alessi, and discussed ways in which MRC PPU could assist the National Innovation Centre (Nepal) in its research and training activities.

During the visit, Dr. Mahabir Pun said, “I am impressed with the sheer scale of biomedical research taking place at your unit and in Dundee. It was a great learning experience for me.” He added, “I look forward to discussing further how we could work together and learn from your outstanding unit.”

Professor Gopal Sapkota said, “It was a great pleasure to welcome Dr. Pun and his delegation to our unit. It is amazing that Dr. Pun has been working relentlessly within the National Innovation Centre Nepal and beyond to tackle the many problems facing Nepal, even in the face of many financial and infrastructure challenges. After meeting with Dr. Pun in person, it is easy to see why his singlehanded enthusiasm and drive has generated so much goodwill and inspiration worldwide. I am keen to get involved and see how I could help.”

Professor Alessi said to Dr. Pun, “We wish you every success with your endeavours at the National Innovation Centre Nepal. We stand ready to support you in areas that we can be of help and very much hope to collaborate in the future.”
