The Scottish Institute for Cell Signalling

Formation of a Protein Ubiquitination Unit

The Scottish Government has recently announced that they are providing funding to form the Scottish Institute for cell Signalling (SCILLS), which will be set up on the campus of the University of Dundee, under the direction of Sir Philip Cohen FRS, FRSE. Its initial remit is to form a Protein Ubiquitination Unit with the aim of building up a critical mass of research teams who are studying the role of protein ubiquitination and related modifications in cell regulation and human disease. The new Unit will be housed alongside the world renowned Medical Research Council Protein Phosphorylation Unit. The Director designate wishes to hear from scientists with exciting research programmes in the area of protein ubiquitination, who are interested in relocating their laboratories to the Protein Ubiquitination Unit and/or in becoming the Head of this Unit. The Director is also interested in hearing from younger scientists wishing to set up their first independent laboratory in the Unit. Informal enquiries should be made to the Director by telephone (+44 (0)1382 384238) or e.mail (p.cohen@dundee.ac.uk) and should be lodged by June 2nd, 2008.
