I joined Miratul Muqit’s lab in September 2024 on a lab rotation in the first year of my PhD, with funding from the Northwood Charitable Trust. My research focuses on the interplay between PINK1/Parkin and LRRK2 signalling pathways, specifically the role the phosphatase PPM1H has to play within these pathways in the context of Parkinson’s Disease.
Before joining the unit, I completed a BA (Mod) in Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin in May 2024. My thesis investigated the effect of SARM1 knockouts on nerve terminal bioenergetics. I continued working on this project throughout the summer of 2024 in Professor Gavin Davey’s lab, further providing evidence that SARM1 potentially regulates the metabolism of neurons at the nerve terminal.
