Since April 2022, my work in Gopal’s group has been focussing on developing potential therapeutic strategies based on targeted protein degradation for resolving pathological protein aggregations in neurodegenerative diseases. Prior to this, I worked with Prof. Mark Field in the Wellcome Centre for Anti-Infectives Research. I employed a comprehensive omics-based approach to investigate the role of protein SUMOylation in the mode of action of benzoxaboroles against microbial infections. I also initiated and contributed to the work that led to the reconstruction of the evolutionary history of ubiquitin-like modification systems by combining comparative genomics and biochemistry.
