I joined the Muqit laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher in December 2015. The aim of my project is to elucidate PINK1 regulation in vivo.
I obtained my PhD from the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova, Italy, under the supervision of Dr. Gasparini. I investigated the molecular mechanisms of tau driven neurodegeneration, focusing on two main projects: BDNF dysfuction in the retina of a mouse model of tauopathy and Metformin's effects on tauopathy in the P301S transgenic mouse model. Prior to my PhD, I graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Genova, Italy. I undertook part of my secondary instruction in Oxford where I received a Student Science Prize from the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
