I joined the Ganley’s Lab at the University of Dundee in 2025 as a postdoctoral researcher, and my current project focuses on mitophagy pathways in Parkinson’s disease. I am particularly interested in how mitochondrial quality control mechanisms, such as PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy, contribute to neuronal survival, and how their dysregulation may lead to dopaminergic neuron degeneration and the onset of Parkinson's disease.

Prior to joining this lab, I completed my PhD at CIB Margarita Salas in Madrid under the supervision of Patricia Boya, where I investigated the role of different mitophagy pathways in both physiological and pathological contexts of the retina. During my PhD, I developed expertise in imaging and functional analysis of mitochondrial dynamics. My work aimed to better understand how various mitophagy pathways intersect and function in neuronal health and disease.
