I obtained my PhD in India and in October 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, moved to Dundee to begin my postdoctoral research with Miratul Muqit. That year was especially rewarding, as I also received the INSA Young Scientist Award from the Indian National Science Academy in recognition of my PhD and subsequent research. In Muqit’s lab, I investigated two fundamental mitochondrial quality control pathways: mitophagy and the mitochondrial integrated stress response in Parkinson’s Disease. (https://www.science.org/doi/epdf/10.1126/sciadv.adn2528). In 2024, I transitioned to Dario Alessi’s lab, where my current research explores lysosomal stress-mediated LRRK2 signaling and the role of key proteins in lysosomal positioning. I am also continuing to build on my broader interest in organelle quality control mechanisms relevant to neurodegenerative diseases.
