I completed a Master's in microbiology at the University of Madras, Chennai, India and then spent a year in the Division of HIV/AIDS at the National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai working on the pharmacogenomics of antiretroviral therapy. In 2007 I joined a one year Master's programme in Molecular Medicine at Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland which I passed with a distinction. I then carried out my PhD jointly at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland and the Pirbright Institute, Surrey, England. My PhD, which was awarded in October 2012, was focused on the characterization of the Ovarian Tumour (OTU) domain found at the N-terminus of Nairoviral L proteins. I joined Philip Cohen's lab as a postdoc in September 2013.
