I joined the Muqit and Alessi laboratories as a joint-postdoctoral researcher in May 2014. My project aims to elucidate the regulation and function of the Pink1-Parkin axis in Parkinson's disease.

I obtained my PhD from Cardiff University, as a student on the Wellcome Trust Four-Year PhD Programme in Integrative Neuroscience. Under the supervision of Prof. Alun M. Davies FRS and Prof. Stephen B. Dunnett FMedSci (co-supervisor), I investigated how members of the TNF/TNFR superfamily influence neuronal survival, axonal growth and the establishment of neural circuits in both central and peripheral nervous systems, using a variety of cell biological and in vivo approaches. Prior to my arrival in the UK, I graduated top of my class, with a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
