Vincent graduated with a BSc in Molecular Life Sciences from Wageningen University & Research, complemented by a minor in Toxicology and Neurobiology at VU Amsterdam. Driven by a passion for molecular biology and neuroscience, he went on to complete an MSc in Biomedical Sciences (Research Track: Neurosciences) with great distinction at the University of Antwerp, with his master's thesis conducted under Professor Michael Heneka at the DZNE in Bonn. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he further broadened his academic profile by obtaining a first-degree teaching qualification in Biology at VU Amsterdam.
As a PhD student in the laboratory of Professor Dario Alessi, Vincent investigates LRRK2 — a kinase implicated in Parkinson's disease (PD). His project focuses on defining the key mechanistic steps underlying LRRK2 membrane recruitment and kinase activation in both healthy and PD conditions, with the aim of deepening our understanding of disease biology and supporting future translational research.
