Amos is originally from Malaysia. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Hull in 2010. He proceeded with doing his PhD at the University of Liverpool with a Wellcome Trust Fellowship. He worked on Parkin-mediated mitophagy under the supervision of Prof. Sylvie Urbe and Prof. Michael Clague.

After graduating in 2015, his desire to learn CRISPR-based genetic manipulation led him to undertake his postdoctoral training at the laboratory of Jacob Corn at the University of California, Berkeley which subsequently relocated to ETH Zürich in 2018. During his postdoctoral career, he focused on applying genome-wide CRISPR screening technology to characterize the degradation of the endoplasmic reticulum via autophagy.

Amos will begin his research group at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit in June 2022.
