I joined the Swatek Lab in 2025 to investigate deISGylation mechanisms of the ISG15 system. My research builds on skills that I developed throughout my academic and research career. During my PhD at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), I studied the structural basis of human melanogenic enzymes under the supervision of Dr Montserrat Soler-Lopez. Prior to that, I completed my Master’s and Bachelor’s (Hons) degrees at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and worked as a research assistant in the Aik Lab at Hong Kong Baptist University. I have a strong interest in protein structural biology and have worked extensively with X-ray crystallography in previous projects. My current work applies cryo-EM to explore ubiquitin-like signalling.
