Warm congratulations to Kei Sakamoto, who has just delivered his prize lecture at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting in Milan, having been awarded the 2026 EASD–Novo Nordisk Foundation Diabetes Prize for Excellence by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

EASD is one of the largest meetings in the field, with more than 16,000 participants this year, and it is a considerable honour to be asked to give a prize lecture there.

Kei's work on the regulation of metabolism / AMPK and glucose homeostasis has shaped how the field thinks about this area, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.
