I moved to the UK in 2016 and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds in Biotechnology with Enterprise in 2020 (BSc Hons). During my undergraduate degree, I undertook a placement year at GSK's Cell and Gene Therapy department in Stevenage. While at GSK, I developed a platform to transcriptionally characterise T cells to support the department's CAR-T cell program. I also completed an MRes at the University of Leeds in Dr Darren Tomlinson's laboratory (2022). The focus of my research was developing synthetic binding proteins known as Affimers, to target the PAK1 kinase for cancer therapy.

I joined the MRC PPU in August 2022 for a PhD in Dr John Rouse's laboratory. The focus of my PhD will be looking at how the WRN helicase can be exploited as a drug target in microsatellite instable (MSI+) cancers. Outside the lab, I love travelling and cooking.
