Bio:

Dr. Dagdas is a group leader at the Gregor Mendel Institute of Molecular Plant Biology, Vienna. He obtained his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Exeter, UK, in 2013. After completing his PhD, Dr. Dagdas joined The Sainsbury Laboratory in the UK as a Postdoctoral Research Associate under the supervision of Dr. Sophien Kamoun. Dr. Dagdas joined the GMI in January 2017, where his lab works on selective autophagy and cellular quality control. He was awarded an ERC Consolidator grant in 2022 to decipher the role of Autophagy as a rescue mechanism for stalled, membrane-bound ribosomes. His work has contributed significantly to our understanding of these processes and their importance in maintaining cellular and organismal health.
