We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join an ambitious and collaborative research programme focused on the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease. Based within the MRC PPU, this project combines cutting-edge organelle biology with next-generation mass spectrometry to define how LRRK2-, GBA1-, and α-synuclein–linked pathways drive cellular dysfunction. Researchers will work in the laboratories of Raja Nirujogi, Esther Sammler, and Dario Alessi within a highly collaborative and internationally recognised research environment.

The initiative also provides to those that are eligible a family care stipend – up to $10,000 USD – through the ASAP Care & Career Program which can be applied for following appointment.

Why Join Us?

• Work in a globally recognised research environment

• Access to cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure

• Opportunities for career development, structured mentorship, and international collaboration

• Work in an environment that values openness, scientific rigour, and mutual support

• Benefit from a strong track record of mentoring postdoctoral researchers towards independent careers

Your priorities will include:

• Apply advanced organelle isolation technologies (e.g. LysoIP)

• Generate and analyse high-resolution proteomic and post-translational modification (PTM) datasets

• Develop next-generation workflows, including single-cell proteomics

• Investigate disease mechanisms across molecular, cellular, and clinically relevant systems

Who we’re looking for:

You will have:

• A PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline

• A strong track record, including first-author publication(s) or preprints

• Expertise in one or more of:

- Cell biology or signal transduction

- Biochemistry or molecular biology

- Mass spectrometry and/or computational analysis

- Clinical sample handling or translational research

We are one of the UK’s leading universities, internationally recognised for our expertise across a range of disciplines and research breakthroughs in multiple areas, including science, medicine and engineering, amongst many others. Our purpose is to transform lives, locally and globally, which we do as a community of staff (Professional Services and academic Faculties), students and alumni. Professional Services directorates are key to delivering the University strategy and driving change across the University.
