I joined the lab of prof. Dario Alessi as a postdoctoral researcher in August 2020. My project aims to identify AMPK phosphatases through genome-wide phosphatase screening. AMPK is a key energy-sensing enzyme regulating glucose homeostasis in mammalian cells. Better understading on how AMPK is regulated might be useful to developing improved treatments for metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes.

I obtained a PhD degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven, Belgium. In the lab of prof. Patrick Van Dijck, I investigated the regulatory mechanism of trehalase enzyme in Arabidopsis thaliana in order to engineer new lines with better drought stress tolerance."
