The Pfizer Award 1999
Philip Cohen, Director of the Unit, has received the 1999 Pfizer Award for Innovative Science in Europe.
The £50,000 award is to be used at the discretion of the recipient to enhance his research. The cheque and statuesque of Prometheus giving the gift of fire to man was presented to Philip by Martin MacKay, Head of Pfizer Research Operations Worldwide, at a banquet held in the Science Museum, London in October 1999. The award recognises European scientists whose work has had a major impact on the Pharmaceutical Industry.
