Congratulations to Dr Aniketh Bishnu, a postdoctoral researcher in the Ganley Lab, who was awarded the Silver Prize for his poster presentation at the Houses of Parliament in London. He was a finalist in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences category at the STEM for BRITAIN 2026 competition, held on 17th March at Portcullis House.

Aniketh presented his work entitled “Pharmacological activation of AMPK as a therapeutic approach for FBXL4-related encephalomyopathic mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome (MTDPS13)”, in which he described a potential new strategy to treat this devastating and currently incurable mitochondrial disease.

STEM for BRITAIN is a prestigious annual national event organised by the Parliamentary & Scientific Committee, showcasing outstanding research conducted across the UK in major STEM disciplines. Since its inception in 1997, the exhibition has been held in Parliament to highlight and discuss cutting-edge UK research with Members of both Houses of Parliament, alongside evaluation by a scientific judging panel.
